Give your script a way to say it finished.

Generate a small wrapper that reports when your job starts, succeeds or fails. PulseWatch's external watchdog can notice when the expected signal never arrives.

Choose your wrapper

Use a simple function name, such as generate_report, with letters A–Z, digits or underscores. Keep its definition or import in your script.

Uses Python's standard library. Add this around your existing function call.

Your private ping URL stays in an environment variable. This tool does not ask for it.

Your monitoring wrapper

# Enable JavaScript to generate a Python or Bash monitoring wrapper.

Connect it to your real job

  1. Create a PulseWatch monitor and set PULSEWATCH_PING_URL in your job's environment to its private base URL.
  2. Keep your existing function definition or import, then replace its standalone call with this wrapper.
  3. Complete one real run successfully to establish the monitoring baseline.
  4. Set the expected interval, grace period and maximum runtime in PulseWatch. Match these to the job's observed behaviour.

Setup guide walks through adding the wrapper and checking your first run.

A failed ping does not change your job's result. An ordinary job exception or non-zero exit status is reported as failure. Abrupt process termination can leave an unfinished run for the watchdog to detect. Alerts arrive on the next applicable plan check, every 5–30 minutes.

The wrapper reports the outcome your code provides. Add a specific output check before declaring success when the task needs one.
